Key Stage 3 English Courses

Year 6-7 Saturdays at 9am

This course will cover content and skills suitable for 11+ and selective school entrance exams, as well as being aimed at students wanting extra support to improve their reading comprehension and writing skills. Students will develop confidence, learning to organise their ideas and articulate their understanding of texts in ways that are clear and coherent. We will practise writing in different styles and for different audiences, covering a range of forms and genres that will provide an excellent springboard into skills needed throughout secondary school, entrance and GCSE exams.

Year 8-9 Mondays at 5.20pm

Comprehensively designed schemes of work that introduce relevant English skills that your child needs to know and allow for continuity of learning. The skills will be taught using stimulating and exciting texts and approaches that encourage your child to be an active participant in his/her own learning and academic development. Students will be given plenty of opportunities to apply and experiment with new learning to improve their understanding of, and confidence with, English writing and analysis, whether that be to pass an entrance exam or to shine in class assessments.
