  • Maximum 6 students per class

  • £20 per hour 

 

11+ / Year 7: Saturdays at 11am-12pm

Close focus on:

- Comprehension and analysis of texts

- Creative writing skills

- Verbal Reasoning 

 

Year 7 and 8: Thursdays at 9.15am from 12th September *

AUTUMN: 14 weeks - Autobiography Writing - exploring and applying the conventions of memoir writing

SPRING: 12 weeks - Poetry of Place and Culture - exploring a range of poets from around the world and using them as inspiration for your own writing

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - Media Unit - designing and pitching a  promotional campaign for your own chocolate bar

 

Pre-GCSE / Year 9: Wednesdays at 9.15am from 11th September *

AUTUMN: 14 weeks- Short Story Writing - exploring short story conventions and writing various types of short narratives

SPRING: 12 weeks - 'All My Sons' by Arthur Miller - exploring relevant context, characters and themes of this incredible play

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - Pre-GCSE Poetry Unit - exploring poetic forms from different time periods to prepare you for GCSE poetry analysis and comparison

 

I/GCSE English Literature: Thursdays at 5pm from 12th September 

AUTUMN: 14 weeks- ‘An Inspector Calls’ – context, characters, themes, essay planning and writing

SPRING: 12 weeks - 'Macbeth' – context, characters, themes, essay planning and writing

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - TBC - dependent on consensus of enrolled students

 

I/GCSE English Language Tuesdays 4.15 - 5.15pm from 10th September

AUTUMN: 14 weeks- Reading and Writing Skills - Fiction

SPRING: 12 weeks - Reading and Writing Skills - Non-Fiction

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - Reading and Writing Skills – revision of Fiction and Non-Fiction

 

IGCSE Edexcel English Language Spec A: Tuesdays at 9.30am from 10th September*

AUTUMN: 14 weeks- Paper 1: Non-Fiction Texts & Transactional Writing: Section A - analysis of unseen non-fiction texts; analysis of anthology texts and comparative analysis; Section B - Transactional Writing 

SPRING: 12 weeks - Paper 2: Poetry & Prose Texts and Imaginative Writing - Section A - analysis of anthology fiction texts; Section B - Imaginative Writing 

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - Paper 1 and Paper 2 revision
