Key Stage 3 and 4 Group Courses:

  • Carefully designed schemes of work that allow for continuity of learning and to introduce students to all the skills that public examinations assess.

  • Maximum 6 students per class

  • £20 per hour 

 

11+ Exam Class: Saturdays at 11am-12pm

Starts SATURDAY JULY 6th - Close focus on:

- Comprehension and analysis of texts

- Creative writing skills

- Verbal Reasoning 

 

Year 7: Wednesdays at 9am from 11th September 

AUTUMN: 14 weeks - Autobiography Writing - exploring and applying the conventions of memoir writing

SPRING: 12 weeks - Romantic Poetry - looking at, and writing your own Romantic poetry

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - Media Unit - designing and pitching a  promotional campaign for your own chocolate bar

 

Year 8: Wednesdays at 10.10am from 11th September 

AUTUMN: 14 weeks- The Art of Crime Writing - exploring and applying crime genre conventions

SPRING: 12 weeks - Poetry of Place and Culture - exploring a range of poets from around the world and using them as inspiration for your own writing

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - Introduction to Shakespeare - exploring some of Shakespeare's popular characters

 

Pre-GCSE / Year 9: Thursdays at 9.30am from 12th September 

AUTUMN: 14 weeks- Short Story Writing - exploring short story conventions and writing various types of short narratives

SPRING: 12 weeks - 'All My Sons' by Arthur Miller - exploring relevant context, characters and themes of this incredible play

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - Pre-GCSE Poetry Unit - exploring poetic forms from different time periods to prepare you for GCSE poetry analysis and comparison

 

I/GCSE Literature: Thursdays at 5pm from 12th September OR Fridays at 9.30am from 13th September 

(PLEASE NOTE: Texts are changeable depending on the needs of the students enrolled)

AUTUMN: 14 weeks- ‘Macbeth’ – context, characters, themes, essay planning and writing

SPRING: 12 weeks - ‘An Inspector Calls’ – context, characters, themes, essay planning and writing

SUMMER: - 10 weeks - Poetry – Unseen poetry analysis and Comparative analysis

 

I/GCSE Language: Tuesdays at 9.30am  OR Tuesdays 4.15 - 5.15pm from 10th September 

AUTUMN: 14 weeks- Reading and Writing Skills - Fiction

SPRING: 12 weeks - Reading and Writing Skills - Non-Fiction
